Global Composites Conference 2018 Speaker Spotlight: Shridhar Nath, Wind Blade Technology Leader, GE Global Research
With just two weeks to go until the first Global Composites Conference, co-hosted by the American Composites Manufacturers Association (ACMA) and NetComposites, Communications Manager Siobhan Longhurst caught up with speaker Shridhar Nath of GE Global Research. Shridhar will be presenting on ‘Technology Trends on Additive, Energy and Other Composite Applications.’
What excites you about the opportunities for composites in wind energy?
“Composites can really change the game for both onshore and offshore wind, by making the blades lighter, more cost effective and further increase the penetration of wind turbines globally.”
What is one thing you would like delegates to take away from your presentation?
“I am looking forward to sharing my experiences with participants. GE Global Research has a rich history in the use of composites and is leading the industry with new technologies and innovation, especially in wind blades, aircraft engines and oil and gas offshore riser pipes.”
What are you looking to gain from the Global Composites Conference?
“I think this conference is going to be a great opportunity for composite professionals around the globe to come together and share experiences. I am looking forward to expanding my network, exploring new collaborations and ensuring key stakeholders are aware of GE’s investment in composites and the wind industry.”
Shridhar Nath has been with GE Global Research for over 20 years, involved in the development of technologies related to non-destructive evaluation (NDE) and composites. He currently leads a global team of researchers targeting design, analysis, manufacturing and automation of the next generation of wind blades. Shridhar received his PhD in Electrical Engineering from Iowa State University with a focus on understanding the sensor/defect interactions in materials using computational methods.
Global Composites 2018, 27-28 June, Vas Vegas, US, brings together an international audience of decision makers and experts to explore the opportunities and challenges presented by the composites industry on a global level. The conference will provide a strategic insight into a wide range of aspects associated with operating and growing a composites business across multiple territories, such as global composites industry market trends, global composites technology trends, building global networks, finance and investment in the global composites industry, expanding into new territories and supporting a global composites business.
Industry professionals, leaders and managers from all backgrounds, including suppliers, manufacturers and engineers are encouraged to make plans to attend this unique, global composites event.
